Meet Trio Dell’Aria!
Our individual love and passion for chamber music drew us together, culminating in our first performance together at Toronto’s Westwood Concert Series in 2014. Since then, we have embarked on exploring music from Baroque to Contemporary and jazz to folksong and chanson throughout Ontario and Quebec, bringing us to new artistic levels of programming and performance. All Canadian, but with diverse cultural backgrounds – British, Latvian, and Indian – we perform a wide array of eclectic music from Classical to Jazz and from the Baroque to the present day.
Kripa Nageshwar has won praise for her elegant and agile voice, and her ability to adapt to several musical styles from Baroque to contemporary. She has performed in the United States and in Europe (notably U.K., Austria, Czech Republic and France), as well as in India. Canadian stages have seen her in such roles as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Despina (Così fan tutte), Diane (Orphée aux enfers), Patience (Patience, or Bunthorne’s Bride), Daphné (Actéon) and Arlette (Die Fledermaus – in French).
Michael Westwood is much more than a clarinetist, he is a highly sought after soloist and chamber musician who has collaborated with a great number of leading Canadian musicians over the past two decades. He frequently appears in solo recitals, chamber music concerts and as soloist with orchestra.
Ruta Vaivade is one of the most versatile pianists of her generation. Ruta won second prize at the Mozart Competition for Young Musicians in Latvia in 1993. She also won the second prize as soloist and first prize as accompanist at the Youth Festival Competition in Braunschweig, Germany in 1991. Her performances were broadcast on Radio Free Europe, Czech Radio Vltava, Dutch radio Classic FM and cable channel 23 in Canada.
